Introducing A Taste of Weaving!

Come along for the ride as we get you back to the basics of weaving with a few interesting projects!

August 28 — Make a Basket One day workshop with Ellen McCarthy

Ellen McCarthy will help us all make a beautiful basket. Details to come.

September 25 — Spa Wash Cloth with Darlene Lander

This cute wash cloth can be woven using a frame loom, rigid heddle loom or table loom. Nothing too complicated. Using a knitting needle Dar will show us how to make a piece of cloth with raised loops that works great for a wash cloth. Can be made out of cotton or hemp. The hemp version works well as an exfoliant.

October 23 — Magical Little Purse with Karen Loell

Karen will teach us how to make a small purse using a simple loom — frame, rigid heddle or table loom. Remember the inkle bands from May? Karen will show us how to use those same bands in this delightful purse.

November 20 — Holiday Party, Gift Exchange, Sale Of Donated Items

(100% to the Guild)
Catered lunch and holiday gift exchange.

All meetings are subject to change.

The Chautauqua County Weavers’ Guild promotes education and interest in handweaving and other related fiber activities. It is dedicated to sharing weaving experiences and expertise and to having fun with weaving. The Guild was formed in January 1954 by a group of “dyed-in-the-wool” weavers and in 2004 celebrated its fiftieth anniversary.

Members come from a wide area of New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio. They possess a wide range of weaving skills from beginner to skilled, but are always willing to share with and learn from each other.

The Guild meets the fourth Saturday of the month, March through November, at St.Peter’s Episcopal Church on Elm Street, Westfield, N.Y. Meetings start at 10:00 a.m. and include a brown bag lunch at noon. Membership dues are $20.00 per year. The Guild publishes an electronic newsletter three times a year in March, June and September.
